Finding a therapist can be a lot like finding the right pair of shoes—you know, the ones you don’t have to break in before they’re comfortable. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my goal will always be to help you find the right fit, even if that fit isn’t me.
A little about me: I’m a Midwest native through and through, and I love all things creative, music, and against the grain. Before becoming a therapist, I was an underground music blogger who created an unconventional path for myself into the music industry. Surprisingly, that path eventually led me here.
So, how does music lead to therapy?
It definitely wasn’t a direct pipeline.
During my time in the music industry, I worked with artists from marginalized communities who, despite “making it,” were still deeply impacted by the realities of the communities they came from. I watched artists try to navigate careers in an industry that demanded their undivided attention while the worries of home never stopped.
Success didn’t suddenly erase family responsibilities, financial pressures, identity, grief, relationships, or the expectation to keep going.
Over time, I realized that while I had a passion for artists and creators, the work I was doing wasn’t fully aligned with the mission I wanted to fulfill.
I wanted to become the kind of support that artists and creatives are so often expected to provide for themselves.
So, I became a therapist.
You’re in the Driver’s Seat
Fundamentally, I believe every human being has unlimited potential. But tapping into that potential can sometimes feel exhausting, impossible, or like a pipe dream—especially when life keeps getting in the way.
My job isn’t to tell you who you should be or where your life should go.
Think of our work together like a road trip: you’re in the driver’s seat, and I’m the GPS.
If the GPS says go left and you decide to go right, it doesn’t yell at you, judge you, or tell you that you’ve ruined the trip. It recalculates. It considers where you are now and helps you find another route toward where you want to go.
That’s how I approach therapy.
Through a humanistic and collaborative approach, I meet you where you are. We explore what’s getting in the way, recognize the strengths and experiences you already carry, and work toward helping you feel more confident in the driver’s seat of your own life.
There may be detours. You might change the destination altogether. And sometimes we may realize that the place you thought you were supposed to be going isn’t actually where you want to go.
That’s okay.
I’m here to support the vision that has yet to come to fruition—one conversation at a time.
